South Tenerife Airport - Reina Sofia
The Easiest Connection to the Famous Resorts of the South

The South Tenerife Airport known as Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Sofia, is located in the south part of the island, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, and about 63.5 km from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The airport is operating since 1978, serving more than 50 airlines connecting the Island to about 85 destinations, mainly in Europe. It receives around 7.5 million passengers a year and it is the best option if you are visiting one of the resorts of the island, like Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. In case you are staying in the north though, then it’s best to book a flight to the north Airport – Los Rodeos.

Many of the major airlines operate here, but there are several smaller companies and some low-cost ones. Some of them are: Air Europa, Iberia, Lufthansa, KLM, JetAirFly, Air Berlin, EasyJet and Ryanair. When purchasing the ticket you could access the website of your preferred airline, but the best way is by checking in websites like Kayak and Expedia, that check the best offers among almost all airlines.

Departures and Arrivals at Reina Sofia Tenerife Airport

The departure hall for national and international flights at the Tenerife South Airport is located on the ground floor of the passengers’ terminal, with an area of 10,800 square meters, and being accessed from the taxi stand, public parking or buses. In this hall there is a wide variety of shops. The capacity of this hall is for about 3,000 passengers at peak times, divided in the 87 desks. After having checked in, the passenger has to go to the security control area, accessed from the ground, but once inside, two floors up.

The arrival at the terminal of Tenerife South Airport, for both domestic and international flights, can be done by any of the 8 footbridges to receive passengers and which will lead to the baggage claim area with seven conveyor belts. One drawback is that the Tenerife South Airport doesn’t have lockers for your luggage, so bear that in mind when travelling through this airport.

If you need to declare anything in your luggage, the Customs Service can be reached through the baggage hall and the arrivals hall.
