Parador de Las Canadas del Teide
A Starlight Accommodation and Spectacular Scenery

The Parador de Las Canadas del Teide and the National Park are the perfect spots for you to enjoy some of the most spectaculars views of a nature that seems to be from another planet.

The Parador de Las Canadas del Teide is the only building around El Teide and in the National Park of Las Canadas del Teide, which is an advantage to those who want to be in touch with nature and enjoy the tranquility of this unique natural area in the world.

Parador de Las Cañadas seen from the base of Alto Guajara...

It is located about 2,152 meters high from sea level, in the crater (now without any volcanic activity) formed in its genesis by different eruptions of Las Cañadas. From the location of the Parador, the visitor has the chance to experience the sunrise on one of the highest spots in Spain or to see the snow of El Teide during the winter.

The interior of the Parador has a cozy Canarian style and is in contrast with the stunning panoramic views of Mount Teide, which you can enjoy from the terraces of the Parador and the surrounding area, such as Montaña Blanca or the Chaorra crater. It is also impressive the cleanliness and clarity of the night sky of Tenerife. Enjoy the starry nights and discover the constellations that cross Tenerife sky with the help of the two telescopes that are on the premises of the hotel. You can also attend the free talks that take place on Fridays at the Parador, usually led by astronomers of the region. Or even visit in the vicinity the small chapel of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves.

...and from the top of Alto Guajara

At the Parador you can enjoy all the comfort and amenities of a luxury accommodation. The term "disconnection" takes its meaning in this location of the island, where silence and tranquility dictate their surroundings.

The Parador de las Canadas del Teide was built in 1954 by Thomas Machado. Many personalities have stayed at the Parador, such as The Count of Barcelona, Don Juan, father of the present King of Spain Juan Carlos de Borbón, the poet Rafael Alberti, Neil Armstrong, and many others.

Rooms and Prices

The Parador has 37 different types of rooms and you can find prices for double room as low as 80 € for the night, but usually the prices are at around 126 € per couple in a double room. Visitors of over 55 are entitled to the "golden age" discount, in which you can opt for a 30% discount on selected room rate. As the only hotel to spend the night in the boundaries of the Mount Teide National Park, maybe the prices might be higher than other hotels of the island, but considering the experience of being in this fantastic location, we believe that is totally worth it.

Services and Cuisine

In addition, the Parador de Las Canadas del Teide has a restaurant where you can find a variety of menus (even "gluten free"), but as part of the experience of being in this beautiful island and this fantastic location, Tenerife Travel Secrets would always recommend that you taste the typical local dishes ... for sure an unique occasion in a spectacular place. Two of the good options are the tasteful conejo en salmorejo (rabbit), cabra en salsa (goat with sauce) or the puchero canario. For more information on the typical Canarian cuisine, please check our section for Gastronomy. Furthermore, the guests of the Parador can use the conference and meeting rooms, a gym (if you do not want to walk around that much) or a heated pool for you to relax after a long day of excursion.

Around and Away from the Hotel

Do not forget that the Parador is visited during the day by hundreds of tourists, but if you walk through Siete Cañadas, for sure you will experience a peaceful and quiet excursion, with several levels of complexity. From the Parador, the variety of guided tours is very broad, both within and outside the park.

Likewise, the Parador can be the perfect starting point to discover some of the most emblematic villages or pueblos of the island, such as La Orotava, located 42 kilometers away and which old town (casco antiguo) has been declared of Historical and Artistic Interest, and its festivities in May or June. You can also enjoy, for instance, La Laguna, a World Cultural Heritage designated by UNESCO and the natural areas such as the Natural Park of Anaga, or Teno Rural Park.
