Tenerife's first southern holiday resort

Los Cristianos is one of Tenerife's major tourist centres and is located in the south of the island.

In contrast to other famous tourist spots in the south of Tenerife, Los Cristianos was originally a humble fishing village – which is still evident to this day thanks to the daily fish market on the docks. It has an average temperature of 25°C and is mostly sunny.

Los Cristianos is one of the three largest tourist resorts in the south of Tenerife, where you will find a wide range of hotels, tourist attractions and entertainment. The ocean waters in this area are excellent all year long for bathing, the beaches are very clean, and the services and facilities available are outstanding – all you need for a pleasant stay.

The route through Los Cristianos is focused around the town's enchanting beaches, like the golden beaches of Playa de Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Vistas. Playa de Las Vistas has very calm waters and has a water fountain nearby so you can refresh yourselves in the hot weather. For those of you who have adventurous spirit, Puerto de Los Cristianos – which is located in between the two beaches I mentioned earlier – has many boats which offer the chance to take part in a wide range of water sports, like water skiing, scuba diving and whale- and dolphin-spotting tours. You can also take one of the many ferries to any one of the neighbouring Canary Islands. We particularly recommend taking one of the daily ferries for a trip to La Gomera.

If you prefer to walk, there is a long promenade that stretches from Los Cristianos to Costa Adeje. If you have a full day to enjoy with your family or friends, we recommend Jungle Park (formerly known as Parque Las Aguilas) – where the bird shows are particularly exciting. You can also visit Monkey Park or Cactus Park, which is a lovely manmade tropical forest area. If you're travelling with children, they might enjoy a visit to Camel Park to ride the camels. It's a unique place and you and your children will have a fantastic time amongst the animals and nature there.

There is a wide variety of accommodation available in the Los Cristianos area, and is much more cost effective and family oriented than in other tourist areas like Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje. One of the best hotels in Los Cristianos is H10 Big Sur Boutique Hotel, which has an interesting history and offers a very relaxing marine environment and services exclusively for adults. On the other hand, the majority of the hotels and apartments in the area are located very close to the beach. For example, there is Hotel Sol Princesa Dácil, Apartamentos Hg Cristian Sur and Apartamentos Solvasa Atlántida – all of which have very competitive prices.

Additionally, in the Chayofa area (which is quite a bit outside the tourist beach area) you can find the enchanting Hotel Regency Country Club. It has a tailored Balian style, large rooms and Indonesian design and a lovely turquoise swimming pool.

The entertainment on offer in Los Cristianos is very varied thanks to its cultural, traditional and musical roots. In addition to having a great night in a diverse environment with Spanish and international tourists, we recommend you go to Centro Comercial San Telmo – commonly known as 'Casablanca'. The atmosphere is particularly excellent on weekdays, but it is often busier at weekends.

You can get to Los Cristianos from the South Airport (which is the closest airport to the resort) by car via South Highway TF-1 or by TITSA bus.

Tenerife Travel Secret Tip

If you buy the bono-bus pass, bus journeys are cheaper. Each pass can also be used by more than one person.

On top of everything I have already mentioned about Los Cristianos, its hotels and apartment complexes have more of a family feel for tourists than anywhere else on the island. Thanks to its promenade stretching all the way from Playa de Las Vistas to Costa Adeje, the numerous theme parks and entertainment options, Los Cristianos is a fun place for all ages and tastes. If you're on a limited budget, then Los Cristianos is the place for you – so don't miss out on the chance to enjoy a fun-filled dream holiday. The only problems with staying in Los Cristianos are what you'll do first and how you'll plan your free time in the area and Tenerife!
